  • Advanced Placement & Dual Credit
    • Earn College Credit While at St. Teresa

St. Teresa students can challenge themselves with college-level coursework while completing their high school education. Advanced Placement and dual credit courses allow qualified students to explore subjects in greater depth, strengthen their academic skills, and potentially earn college credit before graduation.

These opportunities are part of St. Teresa’s college-preparatory curriculum, which helps students build the knowledge, confidence, and study habits needed for success after high school.

    • Advanced Placement Courses

Advanced Placement courses follow college-level curricula established by the College Board. Students may take an AP exam at the end of the course, and qualifying scores may earn credit or advanced placement at participating colleges and universities.

AP courses require students to read, write, analyze, and solve problems at an advanced level. They can also demonstrate a student’s willingness to pursue a demanding academic program when applying to college.

College credit policies vary by institution, so students should review the requirements of the colleges they are considering.

    • Dual Credit Courses

Dual credit courses allow eligible students to earn both high school and college credit for the same course. These classes give students experience with college-level expectations while they continue to receive support from St. Teresa teachers and staff.

Depending on the institution a student later attends, dual credit may help fulfill college requirements, provide greater flexibility in course scheduling, or reduce the number of courses needed after high school.

The acceptance and transfer of dual credit are determined by each college or university.
    • Choosing the Right Courses

Advanced coursework should support each student’s abilities, interests, and plans after graduation. Students work with teachers and the Guidance Office to consider:

      • Academic performance and course prerequisites
      • College and career goals
      • Graduation requirements
      • Extracurricular and personal commitments
      • The expectations of AP or dual credit coursework

Course offerings and eligibility requirements may change from year to year. Students should consult the current curriculum guide and speak with the Guidance Office when planning their schedules.
  • Plan Your Academic Path
Thoughtful course planning can help students make the most of their four years at St. Teresa. The Guidance Office assists students and families with course selection, college preparation, and questions about earning college credit.
